Tom has created a number of pieces of indoor furniture. Take a look below at the various items and let us know if we can build something for you!

Barrister Bookcase

The classic Barrister Bookcase was a modular item, in which individual shelves with glass fronts would stack one atop the other. This modern version of the Barrister Bookcase, is a single 3-shelf unit. Each shelf has a lift-up glass door that slides back into the shelf cavity. Brass hardware completes the classic look. Made of solid Oak and cabinet-grade Oak plywood, then stained and sealed with polyurethane.

Blanket Chest

Made from solid Walnut and Maple, the chest features maple panels, a walnut frane and lid, and the interior bottom is cedar-lined. This piece is finished very simply using only Varnish Oil to bring out the beauty of the woods. Includes safety latch so little fingers won't get smashed.

Curio/Display Case

This curio was designed specifically to display scale model cars made by the owner's father in law. We are happy to customize your display unit for your particular needs and wishes.

This specific unit features a picture-frame front, with doors on the side, and multiple glass shelves to accommodate all the items to be displayed. The back is removable for greater access. Made from solid Oak and Cabinet-grade Oak plywood, then stained and sealed, with brass knobs on the doors.

Fireplace Mantle

Custom-designed for a friend to wrap his chimney, this mantle wraps the chimney on three sides, is made of solid Oak and cabinet-grade Oak Plywood, then stained and sealed to the customer's preference. The simplicity of this design allows the beauty of the wood and the brick to shine. Matching crown molding was installed around the chimney at the ceiling to complete the look.

Kitchen Island

Designed for the owner's wife, to provide additional storage in the family kitchen, this island features three working sides! One end has a drawer (for serving utensils) and two open shelves to hold staples (flour, sugar..); one long side has drawers for cookware, utensils and bulk spices, as well as a cabinet with pull-out shelf to hold the stand mixer; the other long side (where the bar stool and counter overhang provide eating space), has two open shelves which hold cookbooks.

This island is painted oak plywood, with a solid maple counter, and four industrial casters (2 are locking) to allow the entire island to be moved for cleaning or when you need more available floor area i.e., when bringing in new appliances.

French Side Table

Made using a plan from the New Yankee Workshop, this solid cherry table features cabriole legs and a single center drawer with brass drawer pull. Finished with a custom blend of stains/dyes, then polished to a smooth, glassy finish, this moderate-sized occasional table would be a welcome addition to your room!

Mission-inspired Side Table

Made from solid red oak, this side table features tapered legs, a bottom shelf for holding your reading or hobby project, and has a single drawer with dovetails and a secret compartment!

Irish Table

With all the simple beauty the Irish are known for, this table features a round top, and tapered legs. Lightweight, it is made from solid pine and then stained and sealed.

Conference Table

Made to fit in a church conference room, this table is 10 feet long and 4 ft wide. Made from solid white oak, with two pedestals connected by a stretcher for added stability. (Pedestals were purchased unfinished from a woodworking supplier.) The top is removable (bolts connect the top to the pedestals) so that the table can be moved through narrow city doorways. Stained and sealed for an ultra smooth surface.

I had a friend of mine say to me when he drove up to my house, "Wow, did you get a new storm door? That door really stands out and looks fantastic." Andy S.
"We love our Rhodes Avenue Woodsmith door. It adds so much to the front of our home. " Patrick C.
Eight years ago I surprised my wife with a garden bench you created for our 25th anniversary. We loved it then and still enjoy it as a focal point on our deck. Beautiful craftsmanship and still as attractive as the day we brought it home. ~ M & MA
Tom made two chairs and a table that sit on our front porch. They are very sturdy and quite comfortable. I like that I can set a drink on the chair arm. They look like new after surviving several winters and summers. Tom is a craftsman with many years of making things from wood. The quality of his work is excellent and I would recommend him to make almost anything from wood. ~ Randy S.
We live in an older University City home with a heavy wooden entry door with art glass insert, original to the house. Over the years, the door has deteriorated considerably. Tom restored it for us, even preserving the art glass. It is beautiful! His craftmanship and attention to detail gave us a door even better than we imagined. He completed the project on time and was very easy to work with. We are so proud of our beautiful door and love how it enhances the appearance of our home. We highly recommend Tom and Rhodes Woodsmith. ~ CB & JS
